We will give you the chance to work in one of our major divisions, where you will be part of a team, delivering solutions to challenges set by our bankers. You will be expected to provide research and analysis, as well as contributing to new and innovative ideas. This is challenging work but it is also highly rewarding. Most importantly, it will enable you to make a career decision based on experience. You will get a hands-on, insider's understanding of the work we do. You will be expected to work on live transactions and marketing projects, assisting in the research and analysis of different companies and sectors. Graduates from recent years are always on hand to guide you through and you will find that, as part of a team, you will get plenty of support. Your Internship with us gives us a chance to get to know you. If the Internship goes well, we shall offer you a place on the next year's Graduate Programme. Summer Internships (10 weeks) In the UK (London, Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds), we offer a ten-week Internship programme during the summer (30 June to 5 September 2008). These student posts are principally designed for those still in full-time university education and who are eligible to join the following year's Graduate Programme. You will spend your first week on a training course in London, which will give you the necessary skills and tools for getting the most out of your Internship. Subjects covered include financial analysis and accounting, computer training and data research tools, as well as an introduction to our London office and the City of London. Following the course, you will be seconded to a team in one of Investment Banking (M&A Advisory, Debt Advisory or Equity Capital Markets) or Corporate Banking. Long Term Internships (3 to 6 months) We offer internships all the year round to those either in full-time education or to those who have completed their degrees and are taking a year off, with a view to applying to the Graduate Programme the following year. The internships run for periods of between three and six months. Internships are available in the London office only and within Investment Banking (M&A Advisory, Debt Advisory, and Equity Capital Markets). Please note that we will not be looking for long-term interns over the Summer period in addition to the Summer Internship Programme. If you are looking for an Internship between July and August, you should apply for the Summer Internship Programme. Deadlines for applying for internships: Summer Internships (30 June – 5 September): applications close on Monday 7 January 2008 Long Term (off-cycle) internships: no deadline (open year round) Availabilities for graduating students: The opportunities for Rothschild Graduates are extensive. The Rothschild environment encourages Graduates to perform to their optimum ability, without stifling their individualism. There are opportunities for rapid promotion and high rewards for individual - and team - performance. Graduates at Rothschild are expected to respond to the demands made by the business and our clients from an early stage, especially by developing innovative ideas and creating new business opportunities. Overall, we recruit for the long term and our aim is to develop successful individuals who will help shape the growth of the business in the future, and be involved in all aspects of the business around the world. That's why we invest considerable time and effort in recruiting talented Graduates. Rothschild is not hierarchical - you will find yourself being given a lot of responsibility very early on. But there is also a great deal of research and analysis to do, writing papers which provide the senior bankers with the information on which to base their advice. You will also be called upon to do lots of financial modelling: valuing companies and businesses, and investigating the likely effect on a company of an acquisition or disposal. This will require long hours and flexibility, as you are required to produce detailed analyses at short notice; and strong team-working skills. Investment bankers need not only to be skilled in their own demanding disciplines but also, for the conception and early stages of a transaction, to understand the specialist areas covered by other advisers. So there is a very steep learning curve to be climbed before you can start to give advice on your own account. Rothschild's Graduate Training Programme provides state-of-the-art technical training and awareness of our business activities. It also gives extensive exposure to senior management, both individually and in team situations. On joining the Graduate Programme in the Summer, you and other new Graduates from our offices around the world will start a comprehensive training programme based in London. The first six weeks are spent in formal 'classroom' training, with subjects including financial analysis, investment and funding, valuation, practical aspects of Investment Banking and equity/debt capital markets, as well as introductions to the financial markets and law. You will also have the chance to establish your worldwide network and develop your personal skills with an outdoor teambuilding weekend. UK graduates will also spend short placements in the following business areas: Advisory (within Investment Banking), Equity Capital Markets (within Investment Banking) and Corporate Banking. During your time in these business areas, you will be seconded to different teams and become involved in live work. This will give you the chance to gain invaluable hands-on experience. At Rothschild, teamwork and excellence are at the heart of our culture and you will be expected to make a contribution from the start. Towards the end of the Training Programme, we will agree with you the appropriate team for you to join. Deadlines for applying for graduate jobs: Applications to our 2008 Graduate Programme must be submitted by Monday 5 November 2007 |
